Merry Christmas and happy New Year! Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-79588015678495270622018-04-11T11:39:00.000-07:002018-04-11T11:39:44.382-07:00Greetings from Buenos Aires. It´s fall here and people are getting back to school. Since the beginning of March I have several new people who have decided to participate in a new music school I´ve just started. I have my 4 violin students, 2 vocal students, and 1 bass student. We teach instrument, music theory, and the Psalms. Pray that this school grows and more people are trained in music ministry for God´s kingdom. God bless. Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-86572623733668496762017-12-29T14:21:00.000-08:002017-12-29T14:21:48.791-08:00Greetings from South America. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and I wish all of you a happy New Year. God has been very faithful to us this year.

Every Sunday afternoon, my violin students have been consistently playing in the park to support our evangelism there. Pray that God uses this to draw people to His Kingdom.

This year we also had a wonderful Christmas presentation.
Extreme blessings for 2018!Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-15706243648421799622017-09-16T13:44:00.001-07:002017-09-16T13:44:08.456-07:00I have 2 new students: Merly and Luciana. Merly is a mother of 2 from Peru who wants to teach violin to her small children later on. I´m glad about her commitment to the instrument. Luciana and her family are from the province of Salta and have been part of our church for years now.

Here´s a pic of the complete team.

Lucas and Melina have done a wonderful job and have progressed greatly on the violin.

Pray that each one of them will become great musicians in God´s kingdom and that God will send people with the interest and the resources to start cello.

Last August I did a Suzuki course on Book 1 to further improve my violin teaching skills. It lasted almost a week, and in it we looked at the purpose of each piece in Book 1 and the concepts taught in each piece.

On Sept. 8th, 9th, and 10th we had evangelist Jim Raddatz ministering in 4 services. They were powerful services where people were really ministered to. He spoke on the power of the Holy Spirit, and we appreciated very much the anointing on his ministry. Lucas and Melina have reached a point where they can play some arrangements with the band in services.
So Rocco needed me to translate for a week for a team from the U.S. in the small town of Las Lomitas in the northern province of Formosa, Argentina. There are a couple of other churches in the town, but they have very legalistic tendencies, not to mention there are also Jehovah's Witnesses there. The AG of Argentina had been planning a church plant there for a couple years now, and the team from the U.S. was one of three teams that went there to minister and evangelize. We evangelized with clowns, skits, and testimonies in the plaza, and we were also surprised when they let us do so in the elementary and high schools in the town. One girl on the team shared her testimony with a high school about Jesus saved her from an abusive environment as a kid. She then asked how many wanted to accept Christ into their hearts. At least like 20 teenagers raised their hands! God really did some amazing things in the first services of this new church there. Many people came to know Him in the altar calls.

In August I had a great time translating for David Wells, the superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, in Henderson and sharing our heritage with him there. My violin students and I are using our gifts for evangelism at the front door of our church. People are very responsive to it.
I explained how the violin works and how it's different from the guitar, and I shared with them the characteristics of my electric violin. I showed them a couple videos of some excellent performances.

This is one of my favorites:

One thing that I found fascinating is that one girl there who had no hearing at all put her hand to the speaker to be able to "feel" the music and sense the different vibrations.

At the end, I gave several of them a chance to play. They were very glad that I came, and I had a great time.
Lucas has been an excellent student and has advanced greatly in the last couple of months. In one of our prayer meetings, God gave him a vision of becoming a pastor someday. He is showing a genuine calling to work in God´s kingdom and I am glad to teach him.

Last Sunday we had the privilege of playing a couple songs in the Women in Action meeting. Lucas, Melina, and Arianna all did a wonderful job. Melina gave a sample violin class to a volunteer, then I shared my vision with them, talking about how I look to develop a unique sound in music ministry to attract people's attention to God's kingdom.
Back in March, I took a 4-day course on the philosophy behind the Suzuki method of teaching music to enhance my violin teaching skills. In the Suzuki method, the student's learning of music is as similar to learning his native language as possible. The student listens a lot and imitates his instructor and learns music reading later on. I was given many different tips and exercises for improving my teaching. The course was provided by a Suzuki center here in the city, and the instructor is a member of the Suzuki Association. Here is a picture of him showing us a sample class with one of his students.
A couple days ago, Lucas shared with me some things he's experiencing in his public school. Three people he knows there live in horrible circumstances and have talked about committing suicide. At least two of them have attempted it. Their names are Tomás, Martín, and Eduardo. Please pray that God will use Lucas in a supernatural way to share the light of the Gospel with these people who have such desperate needs and introduce them to Jesus Christ.
Stefanía's parents feel that they need to return to Paraguay this year to be with her mom's father who is having some complicated health issues. Pray that God will heal him completely and take away all pain, and that He will put a divine peace that passes understanding in the hearts and minds of every family member involved.
College students leave the city to be with their families, and people go on vacation for a couple weeks. But I've used the time to work up close with my students for an hour a day so that they know the best way to practice. So far the progress has been amazing! Melina has finished all the pieces in Book 1 and is halfway through Book 2, making her one of my top students along with Stefanía! David and Lucas have made excellent progress as well. I will soon be making many more arrangements for them to play in evangelism and church presentations.

On the first Saturday of this month, I was invited by a music teacher from one of the Christian music schools I've taught at to play my violin for her grandma's 90th birthday. She's in very good health and really only looks like 70. I played some classical pieces, hymns, and some modern worship songs. I could sense a real presence of God as we celebrated her life and her family shared powerful testimonies of her intercession for her family and her faithfulness to God. What a legacy!
Last month music ministry went well as I was invited by an old friend from Bible college to play the violin with his church band for their Christmas special. They do great music and I had a wonderful time. Christmas presentation in our church also went well. Our band members worked hard to prepare the songs and it sounded very well done. We did Jesus Messiah and Unspeakable Joy by Chris Tomlin among other songs. We also did a puppet show for the kids.

I'm believing that God has wonderful new plans to show us this year along with more students and music education! Since most of my violin students at the church are beginners and quite young (12 to 16 years old) I have decided to work 1 hour every day individually with most of them for the next 6 months or so to thoroughly instill in them good practicing habits and ensure that they progress to their maximum potential in God's ministry for them. Stefanía and her brother Tomás are back from Paraguay again to help out too. Pray that we outdo ourselves this year in music presentation and drawing people into God's life-changing presence. Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-89476272046843700212015-11-13T11:16:00.000-08:002015-11-13T11:16:21.478-08:00Tuesday nights we have beginner Bible courses for newer believers. A little over a month ago I took over it, and since then it has grown. Right now, we're teaching a course on comparative religions and sects like Catholicism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, and Islam. One of our members said she had no idea the Catholics were wrong on so many doctrines. It's so important that our people are learning to give coherent answers to those who ask tough questions about our faith. A couple of our leaders noticed that since this meeting is on a weekday, there is more traffic passing by our church and more people stopping and curiously looking inside our front doors. So they have taken it upon themselves to evangelize at the door on Tuesday nights as well.

My violin students and I have been evangelizing in the plaza with our instruments. Pray that God will use it to attract more attention to His life-changing Holy Spirit. We start earlier in the day while there's more people out. Last Sunday, a guy named Darío Ramos visited our church to help with evangelism and ministry in our church. He works as a clown and is dedicated to children's ministry. He made balloons, told jokes, and did magic tricks which attracted many in the plaza. I was pleased to play background music on my violin while he did his act and shared what God has done in his life.
Next Sunday my students will be playing in the plaza. Pray that people will be responsive to our message and that the Holy Spirit will urge them to get to know Him and become a part of His Kingdom. Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-64967281193248188142015-07-08T20:20:00.000-07:002015-07-08T20:20:01.519-07:00A man by the name of Jorge Torres has been visiting our church a couple of times on Tuesdays. He's a part of a larger church called Visión del Futuro and works in the production of a TV show called La Otra TV on the channel "Canal Luz". On it they interview different kinds of people working for God´s Kingdom, and he asked me to be on his show as a guest. I gladly accepted and had a great time witnessing and sharing about our work here in the center of Buenos Aires with people who need Christ so much. I also enjoyed sharing about my work in music. He says the program is seen throughout Latin America and Miami.

And since we've had Father's Day since my last update, I'd like to give a shout-out to my dad who spent hours taking my brother and I to our music lessons every week in the car. He's been an excellent example of what it means to live by faith, completely dedicated to God's calling even when you don't know exactly what God has next for you.

Please pray that as soon as the institute is started, God will annoint it and everything we teach there. Pray that God will use us to help people discover their calling in God's Kingdom and invest everything in it. We're expecting great things to come!Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-51952307907527710762015-05-11T10:56:00.000-07:002015-05-11T10:56:41.632-07:00Hi everyone! CPC Ministries has a new member! His name is Lucas Ramos, he´s 12 and has been attending our church with his mom for a couple months now.

It´s refreshing, because over the last year and a half or so, I've lost a lot of violin students in our church for several different reasons. In about a month or 2, I plan to have Lucas, David, and Melina play the violins out on the street alongside the evangelism team. Pray that God will use us to attract attention to our work here in Congreso.

By August I would like to begin the music institute in our church that specializes in stringed instruments and has several different music and Bible courses. It´s a good time since we have the facilities in our new building. It´s also important so the students see it less as a violin club and more as a ministry, a calling.

And since it was just Mother's Day, I'll give a recognition to my mom. I'm thankful for her Godly example and that, unlike so many people, she took my music education seriously and taught me how to work hard at it, so I could become God's musician that I am today. Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172789680842310215.post-59981566551975270452015-03-02T11:28:00.000-08:002015-03-02T11:28:47.941-08:00Blessings! Sorry it's been so long since my last update; there's a lot that's happened. During the church move which was a big job, we were able to get together some decent Christmas music to perform this year. My students played Jingle bells and Silent night.
The delay in my newsletter is because I've moved out of my old apartment and because the phone company was very slow installing it in my new apartment. Starting in December there was a major infestation of cockroaches where I was living before. Aside from it being summer here, it happened because most of the people in the building do not fumigate since they use it for office space and are not there when the fumigator arrives. I had to leave because they would get into my electronic equipment and destroy it. So I moved back in with my parents for a couple of weeks, looking for an apartment. Then God blessed me. The Landins are staying in Paraguay again this year until December, which is unfortunate since they will be missed, but they are renting out their small apartment to me which is very nice and just around the corner from the new church building. They plan to rent a larger apartment for themselves when they get back.

The Landins also invited me to spend a couple of weeks with them in their town in Paraguay which is San Juan Nepomuceno. Since I've never really been on vacation, I accepted. It was really nice to get to know their friends and family. I also ministered in music in their local church. They are very kind-hearted people.
I came back the first week of February. I'm finally settled and am setting up projects for this year.
It´s something I believe is very important to remember, so we don't get caught up thinking only about where we are at and forget about Jesus' body as a whole, because God puts dreams in all his servants' hearts, and He expects us to work together to reach them. God says what we sow we reap. So if we sow time and effort into other people's ministries, He will bring people into our lives who will sow time and effort into our ministries, so that they can be enriched. For 2 years now, I've had the opportunity to teach music theory on Saturday mornings at an evangelical church just outside the beltway. Their music school is called Instituto corazón de adorador (Heart of a Worshiper Institute). I can tell they are motivated to raise up worshippers for God's kingdom in their area of the city and that they value their teachers, so I was happy to prepare and play an arrangement on the violin at their end-of-year celebration.
Melina has completed Suzuki book 1, although Yasmín has had to miss some classes because Stefanía has been too bogged down with high school to teach her. Please pray that high school studies don't get so demanding that my students don't have enough time for their musical development in God's kingdom. Also pray that God protects my students from physical harm. This year 3 good students of mine in our church have had to miss classes because of injuries to their left wrist (Stefanía, Miguel, and Melina). Also pray that God uses our music to reach new people this Christmas season.
Here the seasons are reverse so the first day of Spring is on Sept. 21. Spring day is like a holiday down here because when it doesn't fall on the weekend, students take the day off from school and have fun in the park which makes it a great opportunity to evangelize. We also did a drama and shared testimonies.

Here´s one of our recent presentations.

For our last youth service I got a pickup for my cello to amplify it and show people what it can do in the band. Praying that it will inspire people to take up the instrument for God´s kingdom in spite of what it costs to buy one. This month we are preparing a special evangelism event for the first day of Spring when everyone will be out in the park.

She had been wanting learn how to play for quite a while, so I got one of our old one-eighth size violins from storage and gave it to her to start on. But I didn't teach her. I'm having Stefanía do it to provide her with her own experience as a violin teacher. Stefanía is my most advanced student, and she already has some experience helping out my other students, so I feel led to compliment that with her own classes that she teaches so she can be trained as a violin teacher. She is thrilled to have this opportunity. Pray that Yasmín will grow up to be an excellent musician in God's kingdom!
I've been very busy preparing all the sheet music and arrangements for them and leading their rehearsals. They are all fairly new musicians, and did a very good job in the last service.
I'm arranging several songs to play, one of which I've already finished. I believe that using the music to evangelize is key to the success of our ministry here. Aside from being something that can attract a lot of attention, it will really put the students to work in building God's Kingdom and show them that the time they spend practicing matters a lot.

We've felt really led to focus diligently on having intercessory prayer every Thursday night for the future of our church. It's important because the students often get taken up with school, homework, or their job when we must remember to seek God's kingdom first. People have been showing up for prayer and God is moving. Also our last youth service was great.

Pray for the personal development of each of my students. Currently I have 9: Stefanía, Tomás, Jónatan, Rocío, Marcela, Sebastián, David, Melina, and Miguel. I'm also expecting to have some cello students soon. Pray that they really learn what it means to do their best as musicians in God's kingdom and to put God's work first in their lives.

I'll leave you with a little rendition of ours of a classic Suzuki piece, Perpetual Motion:
I continue having group classes with my students every Saturday to teach them to play together.

Stefanía's hand has improved. She can play almost normally now, but there is still some pain. Within the few weeks or so, she will get an MRI of her wrist. Please continue to pray that the studies will show her wrist completely healed.

While my mom recovers from her knee surgery, I've been taking over teaching Personal Evangelism in our extension of the Bible school for now. Also a big thanks to Bernabé for helping us out on the piano in the services.

Last month we had the 9 year anniversary of our church and had a really special time celebrating it. We shared the experiences and feelings we've had since since we started off renting a conference room in the Apart hotel. I truly believe that this is hardly the beginning, and that God has so many more great things to show us in His work. Here it feels more like the New Year starts in March since that's when everyone is returning from summer vacation to get back to work, education, and their life projects. Very soon we will start preparing for our Easter presentations, and in 2 weeks we return to our Bible study workshops on Saturday evenings.
I have another new violin student, Miguel Balvín, who is enjoying practicing.
Since Stefanía has returned, she has been unable to play violin due to an injury in her left hand that she got while riding a motorbike in Paraguay at the end of December. Some drunk driver hit her. Fortunately no bones were broken, but there's still real problems in the tendons and ligaments in her wrist and fingers. She had it looked at here and the doctor says it will take months to heal. This is especially frustrating and discouraging since she is my most talented and dedicated student. Please pray earnestly that God will work a miracle in healing there and restore her hand to the way it was before the accident with absolutely no loss in movement or flexibility. It would be wonderful if God allows for her to participate in our Easter presentations.
Raquel, my first cello student, feels called to return to Paraguay to study business management. I feel kinda bad that I have no cello student at the moment, but I figure it's for the best and is part of God's plan. Pray that God brings someone to fill her space who has a passion for excellence on the cello and who can get the necessary funds to buy one. They're much more expensive than violins here. With God all things are possible! violin students from Paraguay, Stefanía and her brother Tomás. Their dad
said he didn't want to lose a single day in making up for last year
that they lost in their musical education. So I'm piling on the violin,
piano, and music theory classes, and my ministry is getting the help it
needs from 2 veteran students who know what it means to be a musician.
Stef also had her b-day last week which we celebrated at Starbucks, and
we gave her the lastest Newsboys album Restart which is one of their
best.
Aside from that, it's been a somewhat typical January with things moving slow during the summer and several people on vacation. Pray that God really teaches us to put in our best this year for His kingdom, because the best is yet to come. Jeff Bradburyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05578417011083402443noreply@blogger.com0
